Riverton Site Development Work
Project Owner: North American Properties
Project Client: The Whiting-Turner Contracting Company
Project Cost: Between $5 million and $10 million
Project Duration: Multiple phases performed over 5 years
Simpson & Brown is working together with its client and the project owner to establish the future Riverton site. Working closely in accordance with the project owner, general contractor, and project engineer, the team has been able to overcome issues with differing soil conditions, existing facility demolition, and a challenging project landscape to construct the early requirements for the project to start.
The project requires the construction of stormwater management systems such as culvert outlet piping, and a wet pond. Its proximity to the Raritan River requires deep foundations to be installed to support the proposed headwalls and pipe runs on the project’s west side. The existing bulkhead for the site was in need of an upgrade. Simpson & Brown constructed a new bulkhead which will be a fixture on the project for future development in the area, inclusive of a promenade. A reinforced concrete spillway and concrete headwalls are being constructed in the wet pond area, where shoreline armoring is also being performed.
