Red Root Creek Bridge Replacement
Project Owner: Federal Business Centers
Project Client: Federal Business Centers
Project Cost: less than $2 million
Project Duration: 8 months
The site was alongside an active roadway with an active train track and powerlines in close proximity of the work. The abutment work was in the tidal zone, which posed challenges to protect the work during construction through flood and storm tides. Replacing the in water check valves required careful planning and temporary damming to accomplish this task safely in the short tide cycle.
Simpson & Brown was contracted to perform the design and construction of a new two-lane integral abutment bridge over Red Root Creek in Fords, NJ. The project included demolition of an old timber trestle bridge in the same location as well as all of the new construction activities. Simpson & Brown self-performed the site-prep and demo, H-pile driving, form work, and concrete placement for all pieces of the bridge.
