New Tank Foundation
Project Owner: New Haven, CT
Project Client: Private Client
Project Cost: Between $1 million and $5 million
Project Duration: 3 months
This project was challenging due to the terminal logistics. Simpson & Brown created an access road to bridge existing facilities that would facilitate material delivery. A site assessment was conducted and they were able to access the work location with trucks for soil export, soil import, and permanent material delivery. Site safety was paramount and the work site access and work coordination was conducted extremely carefully with the client. Work on this job was paused during the early months of the Covid-19 pandemic. It has since resumed and was completed in early 2021.
Simpson & Brown performed the following work for the project:
- Demolition of selected foundations
- Excavation of tank foundation/soil export
- 480 Concrete Infilled Pipe Pile–12″ diameter x 35 ft. in depth
- Formwork and reinforcing for concrete foundation
- Setting of tank sump
- Layout and pre-pour survey for tank foundation slope and tolerances
- Pre-pour planning for truck egress, concrete washout stations and traffic planning for the terminal to remain open during all work operations.
- Coordination of a one-day, 1,773cy concrete foundation using three concrete pumps
