Containment and Drainage Upgrades
Project Owner: Buckeye Partners
Project Client: Buckeye Partners
Project Cost: $1 million – $5 million
Project Duration: 6 months
Working in active storage facilities requires daily coordination with plant operators to establish approved activities in the work areas. The presence of existing above grade piping and tank berms required significant hand and vacuum excavation to be performed. Stone placement was performed with a crane and super sack in certain areas which also included placement of materials with limited and no access for equipment. Placement of deep pump chambers and valve pits in close proximity to large storage tanks.
Simpson & Brown completed the below grade drainage and water lines required for the Tank Farm project while simultaneously installing the new pipe support and concrete foundations required. The final site treatment of a Geosynthetic Clay Liner and stone were installed after the site was graded for positive drainage. Work also included placement of deep pump chambers with valve pits.
